Journey with Nadi's wagon

Written by: Reper21 Association

A stroll on Nadi the Greek’s wagon? Ready, here we go! It’s a bit bumpy but what an eyeful.

Nadi carries his traveler-friends on unforgettable strolls. We go to the beach and afterwards we look for the wilderness beyond the canals that surround the town. The hours seem to fly by, because humor is also on board and the road is full of surprising encounters.

On the endless beach, Mugurel, the experienced horse persuades his apprentice to carry us on a crazy run. On a stretch of sand every bit as smooth as that from an hourglass we leave fleeting tracks.

We go by the Maritime Graveyard which preserves the memory of a “Belle Epoque” long gone. That world has left us the tombs of officers and clerks of all nationalities, not to mention a few stories. We encounter quite a few characters among the field flowers and the grass that grows freely: the princess Moruzi, the cabaret dancer, the children of the French consul, the pirate…

We reach the water plant, a veritable museum still in operation. A donation of the Dutch royal house, the brightly red brick building pumps water for the entire town.

After the barrier of canals, we get away from the town, making a path on the muddy soil that glitters in the sunlight. At twilight we witness the run of a bunch of wild horses.
